the beams in our more than 300 years old house are raddled. the variations of humidity and temperature, the  permanent incidence of light and all the other parameters and boundary conditions have left their marks in the walls. at least a few signs are man-made: the former craftsmen branded the beams according to the construction plan by cutting numbers into the wood. by doing this they could ensure to avoid mistakes, although only in the scope of planning and assignment.

more or less every wall in our home is crooked. who cares? this is just what makes our place so special.

principally you can escape from wet and cold only temporarily. anytime everybody has to clench his teeth and stand his ground.

both wet and cold are tolerable if they don't appear together at the same moment. currently temperatures are rising a bit so that the pleasant cold with crystal-like snow is turning into a nasty mishmash of medium low temperatures and additionally wet snowfall. hopefully this is only a temporary condition, too.

any child should have played play in a tree house at least once in a lifetime. although this nicely illuminated exterior wall in constance has actually nothing to do with these kind of children playgrounds, the shadow play and in this context the pun 'tree house' reminded me of my early youth again.

after an evening like yesterday's it's always good to face up to the opposite side of the society. while my girls were insensitively shopping in the rhein-neckar-mall of mannheim-viernheim, i had the time to stroll around the blocks. there weren't many coloured dots to find in the middle of the almost brown and partly abandoned environment.

the transitions there from the occupied areas to the abandoned and inhospitable ones are hard, immediate and obvious. a suburb of mannheim in the year 2012: plain straight.

during the cold season my racer is mostly parked in the bedroom. already in hamburg i'd convinced tina of the necessity to accommodate the gracile bike in a delightful surrounding - in this way one of my bicycles found its way into our bed chambers.

i've no clue why it struck my eye just today - i hadn't mind it since several weeks now. but when i entered the bedroom without switching the lamps on, it looked at me in the dark, only by the corridor lights illuminated environment as if it wants to claim more attention from me.

no fear, my darling, you are reserved for prime weather conditions. hopefully you are satisfiable with the starring of today's posting for now.

is this art or trash?

interesting fitment doesn't always have to be expensive. the interior (and of course also the food and the service) of the bar hatari in the schanzenviertel of hamburg is really attractive although it doesn't seem to be very luxury and high-cost.

the first photograph of my beloved former home town hamburg on my blog. so how can i do justice to this great city?

your best bet would be to approach this step by step like the cat in today's pic moves. during a three hour walk in the afternoon i soaked up the atmosphere of the elbe town again. my impression is that things haven't changed since 2009.

the german songwriter herbert groenemeyer said someday that home isn't a place, home is a feeling. there are no words that would describe this relation in a better word.

a very special place in berlin is friedrichshain. also if you are the craziest guy all over the world you will not attract too much attention on the street in friedrichshain. a great many of the mostly young people of friedrichshain are very extroverted and make the scene quarter feel a bit strange if not crazy.

moreover an uncountable number of more or less beautiful street arts adorn the streets of friedrichshain. these facts together with the darkness of the night create a bit of an atmosphere of an end time movie, especially in the case that you really enter the dark and moody backyards like for instance the art gallery raw berlin has one attached to its main building where the dark shapes are already waiting for you.

it's safe to say that with marriage (at least a few) things change. the most people celebrate this transition with a huge multi-day party, usually they want to experience the best day(s) of their lives. subsequently the bride and the groom depart to the greatest journey they have ever planned...

well, this is the way the majority of the marrying people handles their weddings. not we. the documents were signed at half past 10 and in the afternoon tina went to work as usual. we didn't do many things different from normal days because we don't want our life to be different from before the marriage. it was great before this date and it hopefully will be also similar great after it. in our opinions great changes are followed by great disillusionment - of course exceptions prove the role.

for that reason till today we haven't trespassed the entrance into new life yet.
