usually this parking area directly next to the arena of our local volleyball club vfb friedrichshafen, that has one of the best, if not even the best volleyball team in europe, is well-filled with vehicles from all the spectators. but on non-matchdays and into the bargain at dark night only a very few people and cars stray on the grounds.

the del winter game 2013 in nuremberg made history - it was the biggest league match ever in european ice hockey. at the bottom line almost everything was pretty fine in nuremberg today. besides misty weather and far too little beer stalls there was nothing to worry about, except the tight 4 to 3 loss of the ice bears from berlin against the local ice tigers. but considering the quality of the whole event today this could once be ignored as irrelevant.

50.000 spectators, nevertheless i wondered about the great atmosphere in the stadium: despite the fact that probably a lot of them hadn't been at a hockey game before in their lives and also despite the peculiarity that the distance between the playing surface and the ranks was estimated ten times bigger than in an usual hockey arena, almost all the people were clapping, singing and crying and made for a nice atmosphere.

2311 - privileged point of view

you may agree with me that there are a few events in everyone's life that remain unforgettable. since i haven't the possibility to get treated in a vip box every weekend, a stadium attendance like today's will be surely held in my head for my whole life.

it was the second time that i watched a hockey match from this privileged point of view. what is sure is that the possibility to obtain only a standard ticket for the top match between cologne (2nd) and mannheim (1st) was vanishingly low, but the chance to get a vip ticket was definitely non-existent for relatively ordinary people like us. for that reason i'm all the more thankful for this event to our best friend jeen, who had invited us to mannheim.

often in life the right moment is very if not most important.

unfortunately we hadn't purchased tickets for the basketball match between alba berlin and dallas mavericks in advance. therefore we had to see to buy two tickets for the second of four matches of the nba's european promotion tour directly in front of the arena on the black market. we even saw a few ticket seller, probably all private sellers and not managed by an organised ticket mafia. but either the seats weren't contiguous or the prices simply maddening. in other words today we didn't come upon the right moment to have the necessary luck you need to have to get tickets for such an outstanding event last-minute. as a consequence we had to admire the wonderful arena from the outside.

the importance of coming upon the right moment in such situations of life is quite similar to photography. at least for today's pic i chose the right moment - the sun had already set down behind the newly built parking ramp and funnily my mate martin was standing completely isolated from the rest of the people what in my opinion expresses our situation in a great way.
