above the shelter

March 13, 2014

thanks to a fellow photographer and colleague i had the chance to put my hands on the ultra-compact sony e1650 power zoom lens. it was the first time ever that i used a zoom lens with my nex7. the reason for that was a pretty practical one: i needed an undistorted wide-angle view for some kind of indoor photography, more on that in a few weeks.

well, having the pancake already mounted, i went outside and gave it a try at different conditions and apertures; mostly at the for me unusual and almost unknown wide end of the focal lengths. to sum it up: it works, but you should not expect too much of this low budget kit lens. it's neither sharp (even less if you investigate the edges) nor well-corrected (rather the opposite, its results are horribly distorted; at least the in cam correction works well), but as always you just get what you pay for.

nomergency

March 11, 2014

have u ever thought of dialling the emergency number without having an emergency? it's not that i'd have to reflect that option, but i'm sure some wish for an easy way out of their special whatever situations.

i'm off to berlin now; one week of new challenges and hopefully some time for photography, too. i've scheduled three more postings with photographs from the last days, since i'll probably not find the time to post(-process) my images on the go.
