fitting natural patterns into geometric shapes.
waiting for colour
highly likely this container, resting at the northern coast of sicilia on the peninsula tonno, waits for anything but its collection since years. so having the islands of vulcano on the left and lipari and salina on the right in focus, the colourful container and we were at least waiting for a bit more of natural colour at the end of that day.
cloud topping
with the coming posts i'm going to take you with me on a journey through the tyrrhenian sea. after almost three years of studying in parallel to the usual work the batteries had to be recharged from the ground up. travelling to an archipelago like the aeolian islands in off-season sounded like an appropriate approach, that proved to be true in the aftermath.
in the image you can enjoy a pretty typical view from malfa, the capital of salina - one of the seven aeolian islands - to north-east direction. on the left with a column of smoke (blown away by the wind) the sole really active vulcano in europe, stromboli, on the right the island of the rich and beautiful italians, panarea. due to microclimatic circumstances these two islands are often covered by a single cloud each, what imo makes for a pretty funny frame.
more to come.
step by step
one very stressful phase is almost completed now: after six months of working on the master thesis of my second study i'm finally back in photography business. no hurry, no special aspiration for the moment, just taking photos from right now on. let me get started.

alp anticipation
almost two years after this one was taken i'm already longing for the forth annual alp hiking weekend in a row now. this time we'll have a roped party of more than ten sportsmen and -women what will hopefully make for an interesting and challenging tour.
sorry for the rare self-display but the landscape and the overall appearance of the alpine lake surrounded by slopes is far too impressive to keep this one to myself.
together forever
from rollei’s creative edition comes the blackbird iso100 b/w film as well as a disposable camera, i used the latter for the wedding of a good friend of mine. the characteristics of the film can be described as very contrasty with deep midtones and rich blacks. i like the peace in these!
