straight out of camera, high contrast black and white mode.
the show goes on
great to see that the show and therewith also the daily life go on even in the regions, that were seriously hit by the flood. especially because of that i'm looking forward to the park- and castle festival, which will start tomorrow here in greiz, tina's hometown.
darkroom safelight
abstract high contrast b&w graphics of a ... ermm, that's of no importance; besides a bit of cropping directly out of cam.
divided shadow
back from my tent, immediately back to digital stuff - i'm going to tell you more about #rar2013, when i got my films back from processing.
after more than one weekend of abstinence from my nex 7 i'm fired up for photographing with the semi-professional light-weight package again.
especially when it comes to metering modes, i'm so, so happy to have modern equipment on my hand once more.
reunion
again, if everything worked out, i've already arrived at my mother's place today in the afternoon. since there are a lot of things to do after such a big event, i am entertaining you with one, for now last image from the diana mini, that shows a scene, that is going to be happening today again: the reunion of two siblings.
the photograph above got besides the watermark a vignette to darken the less interesting areas on the edges. it's a round about one second bulb exposure.
many thanks to foto köhler from hamburg for the nice correspondence and the lovely images und spiegelberg.org for the reference. from now on i switch back to high-res, less grainy, digital images again. .. and meanwhile i'm going to send the next rolls of film to hamburg.
same owner - different attitude
ISO800 seems to be a versatile sensitivity for mixed, mainly cloudy conditions... for the current weekend i have films with sensivities up to ISO3200 with myself.
robustness
robustness is an issue, that the nex 7 is lacking in. not only the display errors and rubber problems take me to handle my nex with extreme care, what is sometimes quite annoying. quite different to the even smaller, lightweight and robust diana mini: i don't shy away from lying it on the concrete floor or scratching it across the street.
on the other hand error robustness while handling the diana mini is ... ambivalent. actually its operation is pretty easy: you may choose from four focus distances, two aperture settings (cloudy | f8.0 and sunny | f11.0) and two different shutter speed options (normal | 1/60 and bulb), but sometimes due to the lack of control indicators in the direct focus one forgets to set the correct values...
be that as it may, i love the two to three seconds bulb exposure of the skating marv.
rock the ring
if everything worked out, i'm currently at rock am ring in the eifel and enjoying a great set of music, getting away from it all and shooting exactly the kind of images, i'm showing you here. accordingly the nex 7 has holidays, too.
the daily postings for the weekend are prepared and scheduled. till monday i'll show you scanned and not further digitally processed (only watermarked), square images, that were captured with my new diana mini lomo-cam and the first film, a kodak portra 800 colour. stay tuned, there's more to come.
silhouette cutout
very interesting lighting conditions made for this lightbox-like view of apparently two different, superimposed images: on the one hand the idyllic, well illuminated village idyll in the background; on the other hand the dark, withered and knotted tree with grasses in the foreground, that you rather expect to see in a steppe than in a german town.
btw: both the vintage prints as well as the 400dpi scans from the first manually developed diana-mini-images arrived at my place today. of course i'll share my joy about the best samples with you.
bodensee nets
now that the apple trees and all the other crop plants are growing again and the summer heat won't be long in coming, the farmers have already made their usual preparations for the worst case of an hailstorm and also against the little bird thieves, that love to feast on the young fruits.
