travelling by air has fundamentelly changed since 9/11. measures of surveillance on airports and visitation of luggage and passengers were tremendously tightened, although there are big differences from which country you depart and if you travel inner-european or intercontinental.

so if you travel only with hand luggage - like we will do tomorrow - you are involved most of all. there are restrictions on the amount of liquids you can take in your hand baggage, according to instructions liquids include: all drinks, including water, soup and syrups, cosmetics and toiletries, including creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara and lipsticks, sprays, including shaving foam, hairspray and spray deodorants, pastes, including toothpaste, gels, including hair and shower gel, contact lens solution, any other solutions and items of similar consistency.

many things of that list i do not need at a short trip to wherever or in-flight. a few of them even my wife doesn´t need. so far, so good.

still more blatant is the issue of packing these items. If you travel only with hand luggage, you can take any liquids into the cabin in limited quantities as follows: containers must hold no more than 100ml, containers must be carried in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, which holds no more than a litre and measures approximately 20cm x 20cm, contents must fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be sealed, the bag must not be knotted or tied at the top, each passenger can carry only one of these bags and so on.

what does that tell you?

maybe conspiracy theorist think about lobbiysm regarding cosmetics and plastic bag industries.
maybe privacy groups think about the transparent citizen.
maybe security analysts think about a huge increase of air safety...

all of them are more or less on solid ground in any sort. but the only question that is interesting for me:
damn it, how should i smuggle our glide gel on board?

btw:
