as stated elsewhere i've already expressed my surprise about the chosen colouration of the two new auxiliary buildings of friedrichshafen hospital and like to renew this statement: for whatever reason the medical centre for the resident doctors with attached psychiatry was designed in bright colours, whereas the also new mother-child centre is coated in olive. for me this is hardly to understand.

it's funny how things appear after getting multiplied with a transfer function. is the lady really walking with a luminescent umbrella?

rain has a stimulating effect on me. sometimes when i have to wait for the end of tina's work day, i observe the people around the hospital. they often don't expect to be photographed so you can work calmly. today everybody's solely aim was to reach the rescuing entrance of the hospitals main house, except me. i intentionally stood out front and watched the hectic races of the visitors, nurses and doctors. great environment for a photographer.

a building that attracts me already since a few months is the nurses' hostel in friedrichshafen. the corridors are visible from outside through a huge glass facade. living in this big hostel has to feel more or less like living in the big brother house:

too disclosed to feel unobserved and too impersonal to feel home.

these days i make heavy weather of narrowing down the choice of pics for my daily posting, there are simply too many options. it's not that they all were of best quality, but they are on a similar (medium and aspirant) level and all of them tell a certain little story.

subsequent to a challenging 90km bicycle tour with andi, a friend and workmate of mine, i have chilled for round about an hour in our courtyard when tina called me for a dinner delivery service - she is on duty at the moment. so i bought us some kebab at the turk in markdorf and drove to the hospital by car. i always feel like a very important person when i see tina at her work because in that case i'm exceptionally allowed to park at the farmyard of the hospital on the parking space of the call-out service.

at the hospital we usually eat our meals at the helicopter landing site behind the main building. for that reason we had to walk along the dark and obscure corridors. the last corridor ended in the open country - the helipad area. from there we obtained the best view over the (foggy) lake. the contrast between the dark floors and workrooms of the hospital and the bright landscape was a bit surreal. and when there is nothing to do for tina, no emergencies or something like that are occurring, there are really worse places to spend your working hours.

... for tina is today, that her night duty proceeds as relaxed as it had begun. i just surprised her with a thermos bottle filled with hot mcdonalds cappuccino.

afterwards she showed me the stark mood of an abandoned hospital at night.

marginal note:
during the last days i have bothered about my blog and its keynote. in my opinion there are enough 365 days projects that have no quality. it's all right as long as a pic is published every day. the quality of these blogs' images suffers for example from the lack of adequate scenes. that is not what i want. that's why i have declared some rules for me and my project:

- the photo is the central element on the blog.

- the most important thing is not the equipment (although i'm looking forward to my birthday and hopefully a nice present), the important thing is you by yourself. the idea, the composition, the implementation, the processing, nothing else matters. nevertheless i'm going to milk the capabilities of the nex as good as possible.

- like the blog name explains i'll publish (minimum) one photo a day, but the blog isn't a dedicated 365 days / one year project, it's simply a day by day photography website. why shall i commit myself to only one year? is the aim of shooting a pic a day so nerving that you long for the end of the project already at the beginning of it?

- if there is nothing to tell on a given day, no posting will be published. instead of wasting my and your time with struggling about the bad quality of an enforced shot on an uninspired day i'll have a good time fiddling with my bunch of other hobbies. stress and restrictions are ever-present in the daily life, i don't want to get worked up over by this project someday.

- but: my cam will accompany me every day and night to every location. i'm very disciplined, you can expect that certainly more than 300 pics will be shot and published during the next year.

for this reasons i hereby declare my project as already on-going. only the tools will change in a few days, but that's why i don't expect real improvements in the overall picture quality by itself. at first i have to hone my skills.
