in milan it's very easy to find out, in which metro you are currently sitting: each of the lines has its own colour, that can be found not only on the map, but also on the walls and even on the rails of the stations.

poverty doesn't stop at borders of cities or countries. you will find this phenomenon in every corner of the world, especially in extraordinary expensive areas like here in milan.

had luck with this one: while i was waiting for a pedestrian, an italian police car rushed by. i fortunately pressed the shutter button in the almost perfect moment: the emergency number was just diving into the dark. again a high contrast monochrome from camera's jpg engine, small tweaks in snapseed.

the channels, here in milan called navigli, shape the townscape of the southwest of the city. naviglio grande, a 50km long channel from lagio maggiore to the heart of the town, was formerly used to transport the marble for the dome of milan. today mainly tourists are navigated through the narrow waterstreet.
when i see that the captain secretly siphons off money before cashing up, i really have no further questions after the reasons for the financial disease of europe's southern countries.

i'm writing these sentences from milan, straight from my htc one mobile phone. import with a sd card reader worked well, the image was shot in b&w high contrast mode and just cropped and aligned in snapseed. although working with the squarespace interface in chrome on a mobile device isn't very comfortable, it's definitely manageable. and btw Milan is an appealing city. more to come...

again i have to say farewell, this time for a very long time. unfortunately i'll be away from home for almost 7 weeks from today. anyhow if all goes well, i'll see tina at least in the middle of this far too long period, whereas i won't have the possibility to walk with kingston or cuddle my cat nila.
in the course of my absence i'll visit several parts of europe & germany. i expect, that i won't be able to publish images in the usual daily frequency, but two to four postings per week should be manageable. stay healthy and tuned ;)
btw: the humans and townscapes galleries got an update. as of today they contain my favourite set of images, almost all captured with the sony nex 7.

today i ended up walking through the fields in sunset and studying the farmer's working steps. i know, that the vines have to be treated in 24 (different) steps till the grapes are ready for harvest. i wonder how often the soil is broken up and the corn is cut down within a year...
