i'm rattled. hard wind is battering me from one side to the other. it's warm and silky wind, but nevertheless it causes movement. i wonder what this wind will bring along and how the landscapes will look like afterwards.

usually i don't work according to the principle of trial and error. however if you want to take a photograph of fireworks, your preparation time is zero and your equipment isn't appropriate, you have to trust your luck and coincidence.

actually i did not have a good basis to shoot a successful image of any of this wonderful money destruction rockets today. besides my nex7 with the sel 35 i had nothing with me to work with, no tripod, no remote release and so on. never mind, let's have a try. steady shot off, search for any bolster, manual settings. go!

the location couldn't have been better. the view from the local "summit" gehrenberg over the lake is tremendous. and despite the fog and the incineration gases the shapes of the lake itself and the alps were vaguely perceptible.

in the language of the currently extremely bashed instagram today's image could be definitely tagged with the string #nofilterneeded. today in the morning when i walked from the parking to the company area, on the horizon the alps were shaded in a strong, intense orange and the dark clouds above beautifully illuminated in purple and magenta.

anytime i'm going to watch this spectacle from a summit in the middle of the mountains.

today strong winds were blowing from westerly direction. on the crust of the trees close to the lakeside little snow ridges were banking up.

with today's icy cold the lakeside wasn't a comfortable ambiance.

have i ever told you that i really go for trees? i think so.

trees and humans share many things - both grow up in a couple of years, appear luscious in youth but develop their whole beauty not before middle age. there are different shapes, colours, sizes and origins of both of them. and both the trees and the humans wish for the sun and the warmth and suffer from darkness and cold.

only the mix of all of them (and us) makes for the pure beauty of our world. and i love how trees like the big one of my today's photograph set us humans in relations to unshakeable things on this planet.

anticyclic acting is a way to escape from the daily routine.

after i hadn't managed to be the first on the roads yesterday, my today's alarm rang already at half past six in the morning. with an eye to the great weather forecast for today and hopefully a great sunrise at the lakeside i ate my breakfast in less than 15 minutes and left home still in complete darkness. equipped with my ultra bright led headlamp and red blinking lights on the back pack i started my journey into the dark.

having the knowledge of being the sole human in a dark forest and withal riding a bicycle with a visibility range of not more than 20 metres is a very special experience. i spotted the sparkling, sometimes white, sometimes yellow incandescent eyes of the forest animals a few times through the undergrowth of the woods. at last i felt like a real man again.

getting up early paid off today.

fortunately the announced walimex pro fisheye lens has arrived already today in the afternoon. for the evening i'd planned to shoot a special scenery in bodman-ludwigshafen at the western end of lake constance. a friend of mine had told me of the presence of an example of a very special kind of "lake art" - every now and then a stone artist places stone towers at the lakeside that seen as a stress engineer could really never bear.

for the viewer they exude calm and balance, really adorable.

heading for the place where the work is located we met a nice guy who was feeding the ducks and seagulls. although he seemed to be a bit strange he's surely a very nice and sensitive guy who cares about the nature and its animals.

i'll write more about the walimex pro fisheye lens during the next days. in advance only a very short information: it touches simply wonderfully and seems to be built of very high quality.

furthermore my two today's samples show how differently a fisheye lens can be used. both the emphasis of the distorted fisheye character as well as the use as an almost normal ultra wide angle lens are imaginable.

1409 - lakeside junk market

are we really serious about busing to berlin and back within 30 hours? 1600 kilometres in two nights without a bed? tina is already beginning to doubt about the trip. therefor i have to divert her thoughts with dull consumption: let's visit the junk market in friedrichshafen to get tired before our departure to berlin at friday midnight.

flea markets are commonly characterised by a comfortable atmosphere and a very diversified display. special ones like the 24 hours flea market in constance or the lakeside night flea market in friedrichshafen where we have been today in the evening enchant especially with their great and terrific surroundings.

strolling along the lakeside, grubbing for interesting stuff in the display of sellers from apparently everywhere and enjoying the fresh breeze that blows over the lake in midsummer evenings is an intense joy. and it's supposed to be a more intense joy if you are successful with shopping like we were today. and of course it's the most intense pleasure if a (little crazy) trip to our wonderful capital is due.

earlier than expected the summer is back for a late summer interlude. yes, this weekend was supposed to be an active outdoor weekend but we couldn't calculate on such prime weather conditions. even better that we've had almost 30 degrees and bright sky today again.

whereas tomorrow the upper sections of our bodies will be strained by an outdoor climbing session in the danube valley today extensive hiking was due. we visited the marienschlucht, a ravine on the steep bank of the western end of lake constance. we walked almost 20 kilometres, half of it along the waterfront and the other half through the fabulous woods of constance.

of course our feet were glowing when we finally arrived bodman after our hike again. so why shouldn't we use the late afternoon for no resting and cooling down in the fresh water?
