sometimes travelling people show unusual modes of behaviours. the man in the centre of my today's image carried a very heavy case, which, to his sorrow, had to be hefted upstairs on the platform to reach the trains.

after tina had drawn my attention to his troublesome ascent, i asked him if i can help... he answered with a swiss accent and without even looking at me that it's no problem for him to carry his case by himself. ok, whatever. although i won't go as far as tina, who presumed with a bit of black humour, that he probably carried any parts of dead bodies in his case - hopefully not! - i think, that his autarky has to do with either his attitude towards germany / germans or lived independence in old age.

however that be, i took to him.

day one after the trip, time to lick the wounds. postprocessing at all levels.

although today's image is of course no masterpiece of landscape photography, this illustration of the french riviera's rocks is imo a satisfying reproduction of the atmosphere of the cloudy friday. considering the really non-optimal boundary conditions - no time, no tripod, no dedicated location for a shooting, no "normal" uwa lens, no nd-filter and so on - the result is not so bad after all and therefor worth the publication.

at this point i'd like to thank my blogger friend martin again, who reviewed all the images i've published on the blog until now and named his favs. so today, also due t him, you will find one new image in each topic of the gallery.

whereas i'm currently busy all the day long, i only have the possibility to capture the beautiful environment of southern france in the early morning or late in the evening. since i actually prefer to sleep as long as possible in the morning (as everybody of you does probably), only the evenings are left in the basket. doesn't matter, as long as the light and the colours stay that fantastic i'll proceed with portraying the french landscape at dusk.

living in clover

days are long this week. today we were cordially invited to a workmate's place. he, his wife and the two dogs cared lovingly for us. an appetiser, two courses of fish and dessert were served. i've to admit that to a certain extent they really live in clover here, or like people would say in germany: living like god in france.

unfortunately my holidays have not begun yet. and maybe i will not get more than a chance to take one deep breath before i have to proceed immediately with going through the current topics of my study. every now and then i recall all the great trips of 2012 to relax my soul and in this context i'd like to publish some of the images that are still in my mind.

the clean and modern entrance hall of the airport in barcelona is quite contradictory to the historic and rather messy centre of the city. both during the arrival as well as whilst departure i was really fascinated by this contrast.
