when you visit an european city you'd expect that free-roaming cats influence the townscape. thereby in sardinia pets aren't that high rated as the people do in germany. many cats have to run their own lives. funnily also the dogs do as they please. especially in alghero we often saw dogs walking on their own, there was no human being on view far and wide.

hopefully the lined lady of my pic will get along furthermore.

0606 - bastion of calm

during the last night (almost without sleep) i have decided to use the nex free time for publishing a multi-day sardinia series on the basis of my pics from april 2012 to keep the blog alive. the wonderful island really deserves this honor, i'd definitely entrust a sardinia trip especially in spring to everybody who is interested in elemental nature.

the first pic of the series shows the famous capo caccia at the west coast of sardinia. the building in the upper right corner of my image lies 110m above the sea level at the edge of the cliffs. when the waters are calm you can visit the neptune's grotto at the foot of the cliffs.

the cliffs seem to be solid as a rock. but in a margin of several ten thousand years even the rock isn't more than a blink of the eye.

first of all i like to excuse for my very short statements belonging to the last week's postings but i think that the pictures tell their stories by themselves. furthermore i concentrated on the photography itself, its choice and post-processing. if there are any questions concerning more details of the story - be my guest and write a comment.

summarising i have to pinpoint that not all questions could be anwered till the end of the trip. why are the temperature sensitivities of natives and tourists that different? a local women wearing a down jacket is reading the newspaper in the sun at almost 30 degrees while hot pant wearing, central european ladies are cooling down in the shadowed gelateria lane.

and why is there always a libertine, doubter or sun worshipper?

in this manner both stand in the sun, the spotlight or the centre of interest. it is easily visible that either of them feels more comfortable than the other.

prejudices and pigeonholing. things that i try to avoid. but sometimes a chliché is perpetuated by the person concerned. study the photography and you will understand what i mean.

besides salamanders you can find dogs everywhere in sardinia. many landowners use them to protect their property against unwelcome visitors or boars. in the scene of the picture tina was being investigated by five  (!) cute dogs simultaneously. only at the first appearance she seems to be a little bit peeved.

okay, it's an idyllic shot. but you would have been impressed, too. please enjoy the view over baunei, a beautiful mountain village to santa maria navarrese and the tyrrhenian sea. the altitude difference between the site of capturing and the sea amounts round about a half kilometre. really stunning.

2404 - state of shock

salamanders are everywhere in sardinia. unfortunately they are very agile so that you will have a hard time trying to take a photograph of them. in a climbing cave in the centre of the island i caught an exemplar on the hop. to its cost it had missed the correct moment to leave the shadow. because of the too low blood heat it wasn't able to move a finger. 

2304 - stereotyped thinking

i love the off-season, although in sardinia are not that many tourists in high season. we have had so many moments to call ourselves. as contrasted with bed&breakfast accommodations the most hotels are not opened yet. whereas the abandoned blue balcony facade could also be the outer skin of a cruiser.

2204 - taking small steps

during the last week's road trip we rested as often as possible at interesting locations on our 1000km route. the town oristano was one of it. we have had a walk after lunch in the historical district when i discovered the greek-like scenery shown in the photography above.

i'm back from my holiday trip to sardinia, italy. what a great island! sincere persons, delicious food, beautiful mountain villages and not least an impressive shore. the picture above was shot on last saturday at a beach south of bosa.
