the castle garden of salem is a jewel in southern baden's cultural landscape. ancient architecture comes upon aged nature. in the scene above i especially liked the repetitive frizzles of the branches and the decoratively painted window frames.

finally it's possible to work with backlight again. frontlighting is currently one of my favorite stylistic devices when it comes to composing candid street photographs. there are two, main reasons why very strong and bright backlight seems to be useful for a street photographer: firstly the subjects are often dazzled with the (sun-)light and thereby the people have their own issues to deal with. secondly the backlight makes for very hard contrasts, that support a clear graphical structure in your frame, only if the composition is suitable, of course.

why should mankind generally accept that statues get cold legs in the depths of winter? until today i didn't know that guerrilla knitting is common in the country now, too.

seeing the beauty in simplicity is the high art of life that should be mastered by everybody at least once in a while. if there should be even somebody who is able to master this task constantly, time after time, imo this someone has also mastered life itself. someone like this has coped the sorting of all the little deltas of / in life and has already developed a master plan to handle one of the most difficult aspects in life after all.

every now and then i use my mobile phone cam for a snapshot, probably like everybody of you does, too. funnily enough, at the end of december i received nine of them printed on fridge magnets as a christmas present from tina. for me these nine stickygrams are a really cool way to remember nine great moments of our lives.

being home alone isn't easy for me, especially not if the affected span is longer than a few days. better being distracted by tina's attendance than being driven to distraction because of absolute loneliness. any way, tina causes T-istraction, even if she isn't at our place.

a large part of the ballet performance of compañía nacional de danza reminded me of one of the most beautiful videos on vimeo: murmuration.

the dancers were correlating almost as good as the thousands of starlings in the video. nevertheless every once in a while the majority of the players came to rest and only the main actors were performing their part of this modern drama.

staying in a luxury hotel is usually not included in our daily business. however every now and then you have to treat yourself for a good performance.

it might well be that there are bigger and more splendid bars here in nuremberg. but i'm not sure, if there are more interesting illuminated ones, too.

although the vietnamese don't celebrate on our new year's day, having a dinner at a great foreign restaurant seems the thing to do. it's not just that you still receive little christmas presents by the vietnamese on the 1st of january: besides the wonderful asian food also the interior and especially the decoration is worth the visit.

i wonder how they may have furnished their living rooms? even if it seems to be a bit too much, at least for a central european: enjoying a delicious dinner in an authentic surrounding - therefore i love the cultural diversity in our new world.
