like i already said, the area around lake constance is characterised by agriculture, especially fruit and vegetable cultivation and the processing of these products. so you can buy regional products like apples, courgettes, grapes, cherries, cucumbers or homemade juices, vines, liquors and schnapps for little money in every store.

the most of the farms also sell their agricultural products in small self-service kiosks at the streets. of course depending on the time the offer is more or less opulent because their commodity is always fresh. in our case we've stopped at the kiosk at 10pm after we'd have dinner with friends in their favourite balkan restaurant: for that reason the number of products was limited, but you always get anything.

a building that attracts me already since a few months is the nurses' hostel in friedrichshafen. the corridors are visible from outside through a huge glass facade. living in this big hostel has to feel more or less like living in the big brother house:

too disclosed to feel unobserved and too impersonal to feel home.

it is hard to ecstasiate on a wednesday. normally it isn't tolerated anyway in everyday life that anybody ecstasiates. our societies yearn after people that function. the majority frowns at crazy, quirky or curious people. these have to take cover from being treated as a freak in big cities and their dark suburbs. normally!

on some days the rules of (our narrow) life become soft. there are events where peculiarities are assertively desired. events like the currently happening culture festival in friedrichshafen that unifies people of different mentalities only with the central theme art. one kind of art you can play out there is action painting. it's a very colourful fun. there should more often be action paintings on wednesdays.

sometimes our little kitty nila creates the impression that she is the most unviable creature on earth.

two minutes after she has left the flat she sits at the window again and mews for me to open it up. two minutes after i have left the yard she sits at the window and mews for me to open it up again. two minutes after she has got separated from me or tina she sits at the window and mews for anybody to open it up again... and so on and so forth.

again and again two minutes in her life, in which she always seems to remember the centre of her doing.

3007 - diversity

step by step the great diversity finds its way also into germany. those days when immigrants had felt off-colour in good old germany are mostly gone, hopefully never to return.

mercifully the bounds between different peoples will melt intensely during the coming decades, especially in europe with its schengen convention. there are already some examples of working multicultural togetherness: above all samples the big european melting pots london and berlin show how intercultural communication has to be. of course there is right-wing radicalism in these locations, too, but fortunately during the last years the mentality of the people has changed in this way that discrimination isn't tolerated anymore at all.

today we have been in friedrichshafen at the culture festival where cross-cultural art, music, theatre, cinema and sundry other things are offered in the open air. in my opinion it is delightful that i can enjoy the presence of people of every colour, language and origin without leaving my hometown.

2907 - dripping soft

one of my favourite scenes (not only) in the mountains is the wood, especially if it is located at the slope. when we descended back to our car today at noontide heavy fog was gathering in the valley of galtuer.

a fresh coldness is noticeable when the fog blanket overruns you. the contrasts become soft, the air flavours of soil. i'm an absolute fan of sceneries like that. in these cases i think back to the times when nature wasn't disturbed by any handmade environmentally unfriendly points. everytime an original nature feeling expatiates, everything is dripping soft. love it!

2807 - schottensee

getting up very early at weekends is really difficult, especially if you didn't go to bed before midnight. today in the morning the alarm was ringing at 5am. we still had to prepare the packed lunch and at 6am we would like to depart towards austria together with our friends martin and jule.

after a two hours drive we reached galtuer where we had breakfast picnic in the sun, before we began to ascend to the alpine hut friedrichshafener huette (2.138m), where we are going to spend the night. we were received very courteously, had a warm drink and a soup and waited there for the end of the rain, that had set in at 11am. ongoing our afternoon walk led us to the ridge schafsbicheljoch (2.636m) and the summit vertinespleiskopf (2.706m), from where we had a stunning view over the schottensee into the valley fasultal.

despite the bad forecasts from last week the weather gods were well tempered so that we had a really nice day, almost without wearing our rainjackets.

and the evening in the alpine hut will be even better.

2706 - pure lily

the one or other appears belated. sometimes it is important that anything appears anyhow. whilst the calla lilies of our neighbours are already withered, our sole calla has finally decided to begin to blossom this week.

tina is very delighted by this fact, even if the lily needs her courtesy and care every day - according to our neighbour who is a full-time gardener, this year all lilies suffer from a virus that causes visible spots on the leafs of the callas (also in my pic). let's hope for its recovery.

today i want to say goodbye till sunday evening or monday because we are going to be on a short summit tour in austria at the weekend. the weekend postings will be published a bit delayed, sorry for that. wish you pleasant days off.

... the dark knight is rising.

i'm just back from the cinema where the movie "the dark knight rises" has premiered. and i'm still stunned by the vigorous images that were presented in the third part of christopher nolan's film series. although i might say that the story of the second part pleased me a bit more after the first view, the outlining of the several characters is realised very, very well! just this fact justifies the visit to this movie.

maybe i'm going to dream about the movie characters tonight, about good and evil, batman and bane, integrity and betrayal. all these points are really hard to get hold of and the borders between them are partly fluent.

in the most general sense this posting renders homage to the great batman trilogy. unfortunately i don't own a batman mask so that i had to take a wooden mask from bali to cause a bit of fear. who can say how the next baddie will look like?

first of all i have to announce that fortunately tina's examination has turned out very well. we all are very happy about that and have to make good for a drink to this result together today in the evening.

my business trip was very pleasant, too. after arrival in munich at lunch we had some discussions and meetings in the afternoon, before a huge barbecue party that was organised by some of my work mates sounded the bell for a great night. we, my fellow martin and i, started with a few beers in the bar of the cool stay2munich hotel that you can see in my daily pic and ended in the club 089 in the inner city of munich with a few other mates.

although munich doesn't count among my favourite cities of germany this evening disabuses me regarding my prejudice.
