have i ever told you that i really go for trees? i think so.

trees and humans share many things - both grow up in a couple of years, appear luscious in youth but develop their whole beauty not before middle age. there are different shapes, colours, sizes and origins of both of them. and both the trees and the humans wish for the sun and the warmth and suffer from darkness and cold.

only the mix of all of them (and us) makes for the pure beauty of our world. and i love how trees like the big one of my today's photograph set us humans in relations to unshakeable things on this planet.

the architecture of the new barcelona remind me of the clear, contrasty and straight environment of gotham city. a lot of new towers were built during the last years mainly directly next to the sea.

the structures and shapes are really stunning whereas i don't like the basic implementation of the townscape design here in barcelona: contrary to for example manchester where all architecture styles are mixed throughout the whole city and this mix of old and new buildings is well-balanced, too, here in barcelona the styles are mainly separated per quarter. that's why as far as i can see the city and especially the new parts appear a bit sterile and misplanned.

nevertheless gothalona is worth the visit if you are a fan of modern shapes and patterns.

the days of enjoyable temperatures in the morning are mostly gone now. all the better that the forecasts for the weekend predict late summer conditions. so i could be really happy about that but unfortunately i will spend these days in barcelona and not at home. hopefully we will get a piece of the cake there, too.

today i used the announcing prime weather to go to work by bike again. i actually thought that i'd be one of the first who is on the go in the fields in the morning but i was surprised by the fruit farmers again: in simply every plantation the farmers and their temporary workers were already occupied with the harvest of the big, red and ripe apples.

i really appreciate the possibility to buy fresh and organic food at the local dealers. support your local dealer is a good credo.

the first photograph of my beloved former home town hamburg on my blog. so how can i do justice to this great city?

your best bet would be to approach this step by step like the cat in today's pic moves. during a three hour walk in the afternoon i soaked up the atmosphere of the elbe town again. my impression is that things haven't changed since 2009.

the german songwriter herbert groenemeyer said someday that home isn't a place, home is a feeling. there are no words that would describe this relation in a better word.

i still have to become attuned to the vastness of the angle of view of my new fisheye lens. today in the morning on my way to work by bike i spotted a really natural scenery in the fields of markdorf that of course had to be captured. it's no hdr image, only slightly adjustments in lightroom.

at the weekend the fisheye lens will accompany me to berlin and the complete next week i'll be engaged on business in hamburg. at the latest in the middle of next week i'm going to write my detailed thoughts about the walimex pro fisheye lens and how it matches the nex 7.

swimming in the ocean at the end of september isn't an usual activity for us. so today's vacation farewell trip to tellaro, a village in the south of la spezia that belongs to the most beautiful villages of italy on the initiative of the associazione nazionale comuni italiani, was something very special. 25 degrees in the shade and eight hours of sunshine, wonderful beaches, a refreshing sea and a terrific view along the high shore over the golf of la spezia across to portovenere and the isola palmaria really made a great surrounding for the last day of our holidays in italy.

a funny peculiarity of the most of the beaches of liguria is the fine pebble. tina really liked the very fine stones tickling her back. and they are good-looking, too.

it's quite possible that we've had the last day of midsummer today. probably for the last time of this year the air was pleasant warm and the lake's water invigorating cool. at the moment heavy clouds and thunderstorms are gathering over lake constance and south germany.

i'll definitely miss the daily short getaway on the lake when i'll leave the area around lake constance one day. tina was already on the lake when i ended today's work and enjoyed the silence by the water. she had soaked up the sun the whole afternoon and unfortunately her skin was already coloured in a kind of brown-red. for that reason she dressed with her white bike longsleeve and turned her back on the sun while she was reading her current (german) book "die unglaubliche geschichte des henry n. brown". she sitting in front of the glowing, silent lake was the perfect subject for today's candid picture.

weekend after next the wine festival of our village is due. today in the evening we went for a blow in the vineyards with kingston, the dog of our neighbours. the light came in in a shallow angle and pierced the leafs of the vines. funnily there was exactly one yellow-red leaf that shined out the bulk of green ones.

the stroll generated a thrill of anticipation to the festival where the different wines of the last vintages will be served. a year from now at the latest we'll see if this year's vintage will be as good as the last ones.

unfortunately we have a few issues with the topic family. it's not that we wouldn't get along with each other or wouldn't stick together - no, this all works brilliant.

the first problem is that both tina and my parents live separated. so the feelings of our youths will not arrive anymore. never again. but despite the divorced families we are now very satisfied with the situation of our parents because mercifully they are satisfied with their new life partners and lives, too. the second issue is the distance between the residences - you don't drive 550 kilometres every weekend if you want to live your own life, too. for that reason we sadly miss a lot of the growth process of our siblings.

my big sister maxi hits one growth spurt after the other. she is not far off being an adult female. take care of yourself, maxi! at least my heart goes out to you.

coming home after a temporary leave is always a great pleasure. today in the evening not only tina but also her lovely mum romy and her brother marv have received me with wide opened arms when i arrived home from my climbing course in the alps nearby mittenwald.

for that reason tina had arranged a table in a wonderful restaurant with the nicest pub garden i've ever seen nearby friedrichshafen - the krone (crown) in raderach. we four together had a cosy night with terrific food, beer and wine from the local area at the lake constance. it's too bad that marv and romy have to leave us already tomorrow morning and i've missed almost the whole span of their visit. anyhow tina shall remain still faithful with me. clearly!
