today my mate andi and i picked up pace and used the prime late autumn weather for a bike ride in the setting sun after work. everything was bathed in an orange, warm light, what hid the fact that the temperatures had almost reached the freezing mark when we arrived home (not before darkness had almost completely approached) at 6pm after two hours of cycling.

it felt like we were supported by a permanent tailwind that escorted us on our way through the woods and fields. in fact this tailwind was the energising sun that refreshed our batteries and made us riding in the slipstream of euphoria.

some things will never change: coming home from work on night duty days of tina is pure heartache for me because i'm anything but a person who enjoys his own company.

so i hurl myself into rituals: coming home; cuddling nila, the cat; exercises, taking a hot shower, dinner, extensive practising. sleep.

no matter if the year is 2005 or 2015: this was and will be the same as it ever was in our relationship.

the journey is over, i'm home from spain again. the caminada internacional de barcelona 2012 - the international walk of barcelona - was definitely worth the flights, nights' stay and days off.

the iml walking association did a great job in organising the whole event. everything, simply everything worked very well, there was nothing to worry about. for that reason at this place i want to bring my tribute of praise and a short thank-you note in behalf of all walkers to the whole iml team. thank you all!

you may not believe that the charge of 8 euros included not only the catering, the whole organisation with cordon, signposts, final party, all the documents for the finishers and much more but also a gold medal if you walked and finished on both days. due to this piece of metal i'll always keep this trip in my mind... of course i think highly of all the volunteers and sponsors, too. without their efforts these events couldn't take place again and again.

today's image was shot with the walimex ultra-wide-angle fisheye lens in handheld retrofocus position. the shown image section covers a crop of only 6 millimetres. it's interesting what you can do with a fisheye lens, isn't it?

the purple flare results from the lateral, incidental light that produces a non-post-processing vintage look. in this case this effect is desired but you can easily avoid this magenta shift by preventing lateral incidence of light with a tube or the like, too.

being separated from tina for more than a week let me feel sick.

coming home after ten days feels a bit like getting to know her and the whole surrounding completely new. a sense of delight mixes with a feeling of relief. hopefully this will stay forever.

already at 8am tina and i left the wonderful cottage in liguria. ten totally different days of holidays are now written in our small family history. hard to imagine that i have to go to work in two days again - anyhow some hours of resting are waiting for us.

when we finally arrived at home at 3pm my matriculation documents were already waiting for me in the pillar box. yes, you have this right - during the coming three years from now on i'll be a student again. my course computational engineering - that is provided by the beuth hochschule berlin - will proceed as different distance learning units. i'm very curious and will report every now and then from my study progress.

for now the last photograph from italy is about a very defining element of italian street life - simply everybody aged between 16 and 70 seems to own a scooter. funnily the scooters have the things on the streets firmly under control - they wiggle through all the blocked roads and thereby they scare one or two pedestrians and car drivers, too.

attention: next up is strict personal content, maybe you'll be bored to death.

i'm 28 and childless. the thing is not that i don't like kids. quite the contrary i really enjoy the presence of babies and children. at the present i'm simply not yet prepared to give the majority of my personal freedom up. indeed likely a time will come when i'm differently minded. so basically it cannot be ruled out that tina and i will be parents somewhen.

till then i delight in my mates' kids. although mika is definitely not the easiest baby around the world he's simply cuddly and absolutely lovable.

btw: i especially like the technical imperfection of today's pic. the blur expresses the joy, the movement of the captured scene and his zest for life perfectly.

today i plunged into the world of art. for that reason i want to let my spinning graphic art speak for itself. a picture is worth a thousand words...

as you may have realised, i don't take myself too serious today. i felt like it and i think, that everybody should have such days every now and then. tomorrow i'll be serious again. for sure.

weekend time is visiting time. this weekend two fellow students are visiting me at lake constance. christian, who is the father of a two and a half year old, cute boy, hasn't been at my place since more than two years. and i've not seen karl, who is also a father since more than one year, since we ended our movement to the lake in summer 2009. a long time passed since then, but luckily we are still on the same page although we three are completely different as different can be.

after they'd arrived at my workplace, i've showed them everything in my company, the facilities and the beautiful surroundings at the lake. when we came home tina had already prepared the dinner so that we could directly have a seat for a great spaghetti bolognese and some beers. in the evening we visited the opening of the exhibition "experimentelle 17" and ended in a tiny little bar with another beer.

the vernissage gave variety in modern, experimental art: iron structures, paintings and sculptures of well- and also little-known artists are exhibited at five places at the lake constance for two months from now on. the work of peter casagrande was the most impressive one: he works with huge canvas and glaring colours, beautiful to look at. however the work of andreas lau was the most interesting one: as an example he creates plastic, three-dimensional images with dozens of multilayered dots with different diameters in front of a shadowed background. really formidable!

the image in my pic shows a blurred child, that is traversed by some parallel lines. if you view this image at a remove from some meters, the child is clearly visible. however if you see the painting from up close, everything blurs to a coloured mass. also very formidable and a top implementation by the artist!

for logical reasons i used the topic and the kind of implementation of "the child", my favourite exhibited painting, as an opportunity to implement my daily pic also of this character. my pic a multilayered, partly blurred, candid self portrait of tina and me in the environment of the exhibition.
