the tree is up and decorated. it's our biggest christmas tree ever. it is straight, symmetric and very beautiful. now christmas is finally on its way.

shortly before christmas we are completely caught up in the commercial vortex. in these days the corridors of the shopping malls are usually overcrowded, since everybody seems to guess that the human kind will starve during the holidays and so the people start to build up reserves again.
fortunately there is a brand new shopping mall in our village since a few weeks now. it's a pleasure to go shopping there, the corridors are wide and empty and you can easily breeze through the shelves. at least today.

taking candid pictures of people in public is about catching the right moment. you already see the scenery but you still have to wait till another object or another boundary condition is completing your image.
in case of the photograph above the third person crossing the bright reflections of the sunlight was the key for an interesting composition. the lady - the person is carrying a handbag - causes exactly the amount of confusion i wanted to have in there.

till today tina hasn't completely taken to the things i'm concerned with. this stands to reason, since even i by myself don't feel certain with every detailed issue of this complex topic. all the things that are made for killing bring along a very negative connotation, regardless of whether the underlying engineering achievement deserves acknowledgement or not.

how much sorrow had this old jet brought upon the global population before it was retired? this is definitely the wrong question.
the evil itself isn't arising from the existence of weapons. quite the opposite, due to the incredible power, energy and force of tools like jets (today's dangerous, irregular) enemies can be thrown again and again. in the best case it's enough to deploy every weapon only in the context of show of force. i wish this could be the custom.

it's so great to have such a highly compact and portable equipment with you every day. the nex7 together with a second lens and my gorilla pod fit into my daily shoulder bag without any problems.
because of that i'm able to react to almost every given scenery at almost all times. so even longer exposures of (small-) townscapes with moving elements do not cause any difficulties for me.

today strong winds were blowing from westerly direction. on the crust of the trees close to the lakeside little snow ridges were banking up.
with today's icy cold the lakeside wasn't a comfortable ambiance.

principally you can escape from wet and cold only temporarily. anytime everybody has to clench his teeth and stand his ground.
both wet and cold are tolerable if they don't appear together at the same moment. currently temperatures are rising a bit so that the pleasant cold with crystal-like snow is turning into a nasty mishmash of medium low temperatures and additionally wet snowfall. hopefully this is only a temporary condition, too.

to tell the truth, i've never felt such an intense christmas spirit before. we have consistent snowfall since almost two weeks now and tina decorated the whole flat already at the end of november with all the lovely stuff that makes for a comfortable surrounding.
on that matter i can understand that even the neighbour cats try to escape the cold and warm up on our heated floor.

are these art or trash, what do you think? unfortunately light wasn't as it ought to be today in the early morning, so that an ordinary landscape shot was no option. so i thought about a way to express the greyness of landscape, the defencelessness of these gracile plants and the circumstance that the already hurt, huge grasses are completely and utterly at the winter's mercy.

only a few of the blades are still standing. the rest is fractured and snapped of. beneath the burden of the heavy, relatively wet snow they are not able to resist.

any child should have played play in a tree house at least once in a lifetime. although this nicely illuminated exterior wall in constance has actually nothing to do with these kind of children playgrounds, the shadow play and in this context the pun 'tree house' reminded me of my early youth again.
